Dario Bogni: Fitness, at least 30 minutes every day. But they can be ‘broken’

Showing this result is a group of American cardiologists who just published the study in the Journal of The American Heart Association. Until now, however, it was thought that it was necessary to divide physical exercise into sessions of at least 10 minutes, to have these benefits. Here's what the experts found.
From walking to swimming, from cycling to gymnastics. That practicing physical activity for about half an hour every day literally extends life is a fact now known to the scientific community and to the general public. The American guidelines of 2008, but also the international ones, recommend to carry out physical activity of moderate intensity for at least 150 minutes a week (about 30 minutes a day, most days) of activity or 75 minutes a week of vigorous activity (but without exaggerating), to obtain a significant benefit for health, to be divided into intervals of no less than 10 consecutive minutes. Bogni Dario: “With the same daily duration, the authors wondered if in the case of very short sports sessions, even of a few minutes, physical activity brings the same benefits. To understand this, they analyzed data collected in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, starting from a sample of nearly 5,000 people aged 40 and above, from 2003 to 2006, with information on the mortality of the participants up to 2011. " Using special instruments, called accelerometers, the duration and intensity of the exercise were measured, as well as the number of interruptions and resumes. Moderate intensity is represented, for example, by brisk walking, while vigorous intensity can be a run.
These data have been related to mortality. The participants were divided into groups, those who performed sporadic physical activity, therefore for less than 5 minutes, repeating the action several times, and those who practiced it for long periods of time, of 5 or 10 minutes in a row, with fewer intervals and shooting.
