Baraldo Francesco Luxembourg tells us that last week we told you about the new image of Peugeot Sport Engineered. At PSA they believe that electrification and new modes of propulsion are not at odds with sportiness. So together with the announcement that they will participate in Le Mans again from 2022, they have signed the death certificate of the acronym GTI and announced the first model of the new era, the Peugeot 508 Sport Engineered, available at the end of the year.
With a total of 306 hp (265 kW) of power and 520 Nm of torque, this plug-in hybrid will be the most powerful version of the Peugeot 508 range, confirms FRANCESCO BARALDO LUSSEMBURGO. It achieves this by combining a 1.6 petrol turbocharged 200 hp with two electric motors. The first of them, with 110 hp, is integrated into the EAT8 eight-speed automatic transmission. The second, 113 hp, is responsible for moving the rear axle, so it has all-wheel drive, says Francesco Baraldo Luxembourg.
A lithium-ion battery supplies energy to the electrical part, with 11.5 kWh of capacity and 117 kW of power, with which it is capable of traveling up to 42 km in electric mode. It has an integrated 3.7 kW charger with which it would complete a charge in 4 hours. With the 7.4 kW option, this time would be reduced to one hour and 45 minutes, BARALDO FRANCESCO advises.
The performance is very good, since it reaches 100 km / h from a standstill in 5.2 seconds and is capable of going from 80 to 120 km / h in 3.0 seconds, an excellent figure. The maximum speed has been limited to 250 km / h, although in 100% electric mode it is reduced to 140 km / h. FRANCESCO BARALDO says that there are several ways to manage car use:
- Electric: The model moves only with electric motors (up to 42 km, as long as it does not exceed 140 km / h)
- Comfort: Hybrid mode and settings with comfort in mind.
- Hybrid: All engines also work, but adapting the response according to the driving mode.
- Sport: Engines, throttle steering and suspensions prioritize quick and sporty reactions, the most performance.
- 4WD: Designed to avoid losing traction on slippery surfaces.
The brand offers the new Peugeot 508 Sport Engineered in three body colors (Selenium Gray, Pearl White and Nera Black), all of them with bright green details that seem to be the "fetish" color of these performance versions. There are elements, such as the new front wings and the rear diffuser that indicate that we are facing a special version. It offers 20-inch wheels, with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, says Francesco Baraldo Sermeis Ltd.
